Welcoming Rev Byung Jun Kim

We welcome Revd Byung Jun Kim as Rector of the parish of Abington on Saturday 23rd March 2019 when he will be Inducted and Installed by the Bishop of Peterborough Rt Rev Donald Allister and the Archdeacon of Northampton Ven Richard Ormston .

He joins us from the church of All Saints, Peterborough where he has served as Curate. Jun is married to Simona and they have 8 months old son called Emmanuel and Mocha, their cat. They will live in the new Rectory in Honeysuckle Close in Abington Vale.

Before being ordained Jun studied theology and philosophy at Yonsei University, Seoul. He worked as a social worker and served in the army as a sergeant in South Korea. Jun translates theology from English to Korean and published a few books of Rowan Williams and Evelyn Underhill as a translator.

Jun trained for ordination at Anglican University, Seoul, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree. During his training Jun experienced mission work in slum areas of Phnom Penh in Cambodia and in Mission to Seafarers. He was ordained Deacon in Seoul Diocese where he served as a diocesan training officer and as a part-time parish minister in a deprived urban parish. He was ordained Priest in Peterborough Diocese after moving to England with his wife Simona and serving his curacy at All Saints Peterborough.
