GROWTH ACTION PLAN 2016-19

The PCC has reviewed its work reflecting on its role in promoting a growing church - both spiritually and numerically.

GROWING IN FAITH FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH

To continue nurturing and growing in our faith, through prayer, study of the Bible, including  working with children and young people,  visiting those in need, Christian giving and sharing with other churches including:

·         Extend the practice of prayer, individually and at a range of groups.

·         Support study of the Bible, through Lent and other groups and Sunday worship both for new and established members.

·         Activities and learning for children and young people.

·         Pastoral visiting and prayer.

·         Continuing our challenge to give 10% of our income to God’s work.

·         Work actively with other Christians in Abington to pray for the people who live and work in the area and supporting the Good Friday Walk of Witness.

·         Review our activity and involvement to inform the future programme.

REACHING OUT TO AND SERVING THE ABINGTON COMMUNITY

We want everyone in the parish and around to know about the Church in the Park and what it offers as a focus for Christian life. This will include:

·         Improving our notice boards, publicity materials and website.

·         Promoting fundraising events in the church which make a link with the local community.

·         Serving the community through visits to  Care Homes and volunteering at AHOF.

·         Supporting the uniformed organisations linked to church.

·         Personal visits to those moving into new houses.

·         Developing our links with local schools through the Experience programme and visits.

·         Developing Tots and Teddies and Bible Brunch and Messy Church.

·         Making our fund raising activities attractive to local people.

PROMOTING A WELCOMING AND ACCESSIBLE CHURCH

Making the Church a welcoming and effective space for worshippers and visitors.

·         Developing our all-age worship and enhancing worship through a range of music and a wider range of other imaginative approaches to worship.

·         Promoting contact with Baptism, Wedding and Bereavement families, developing links and ensuring that all are welcomed.

·         Maintaining and extending the programme of open church with a growing group of welcomers.

·         Ensuring the Church, Church Rooms and Churchyard are well-maintained and suitable for the range of worship, prayer and appropriate community use.

·         Improve communication among the church members through Churchdesk.
